While Apple does not reveal much detail on the use of Apple Pay, a report of analysis of consumption of the company TXN has presented some data from a panel of more than three million consumers. Is says that the analysis is of them accounts with cards of credit of them banks that distinguish them transactions of Apple Pay, indicating that the use of this form of payment grew slightly more than the 50% in the 12 months that ended in December of 2016.
For stores to the retail, Duane Reade and Whole Foods mark the way, Apple Pay represents 1.8% and 1.7% of their transactions, respectively. The rest of the retailers have transaction volumes of Apple Pay of less than 1%, according to a table shared by TXN.
The use in mobile applications and web sites was greater, with HotelTonight going around 3.4%, followed by Caviar, Postmates and DoorDash food supply services.
Apple recently revealed that approximately 35% of American retailers are now compatible with Apple Pay, for a total of 4 million places, an Executive of the payment platform refused to reveal figures of movements. However, Tim Cook stated in Q4 Results Conference in October that Apple Pay transactions rose 500%.
The difference between the two numbers may be that Apple and TXN measured the use of different forms, as well as the different reporting periods. Apple measures the actual transaction number, while the TXN is talking about the percentage of all transactions made with Apple Pay credit card. It should be noted that the number of TXN is an inexact science, can only pull data from its own panel of card users, and cannot distinguish the use of Apple Pay with all the banks.
Apple Pay expansion continues, with more banks that support the platform in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world, as well as a greater acceptance in vending machines.
