Plex multimedia contents playback service just launched in beta a new option that have called Plex Cloud.
In contrast to what was happening so far, Plex Cloud will allow all users, upon payment, store their files for video, music and images in the cloud on Amazon, without limits, and can watch them from anywhere through the Plex applications for iPhone and Apple TV.
Plex Cloud, the bet “multilugar” for access to your content multimedia
Plex is one of the best players of multimedia content that exist today, one of the most popular and the most commonly used. Thanks to this service, and making use of their applications for iPhone, iPad and the Apple TV of fourth generation, them users can have access to them movies, series, programs of television, music and images that have stored in the disk hard of your computer or in a disc hard external connected to this.
Its interface, in a perennial dark mode, offers a very attractive design and care, as well as being very intuitive when it comes to using it. Shows the covers of your content so that you quickly browse between them and gives you all the information about them. For example, a movie will offer cover and synopsis sheet in full. Also enjoy your soundtrack in the background at the same time that you are referring to the tab of a film, a simple detail that is very nice.
But Plex not is a service perfect, though is you approximate enough. After having been able to use for some time, I detected two major drawbacks. The first of them, is that usually take too in synchronize them data of them contained (that tab technical of which before talked about), for example, with trakt.tv. The second, and more important, is that since the computer acts as a local server (on the sidelines of which your content is hosted in the computer’s hard drive or an external hard drive) it forces you to have it on whenever you want to access your content for viewing on the Apple TV or in one of your iOS devices. By fortune, although the solution as you will see, not will be of the pleasure of all, this inconvenient soon will be eradicated.
In what is Plex Cloud?
Plex Cloud is the solution proposed by this service that just from being released in phase beta. Access to this new feature, at the moment, is only available upon invitation and for all we know, the number of invitations is quite restricted.
In essence, Plex Cloud is not anything other than a cloud storage service. Users can save there all your media, without limit, and so you can access them from any device, time and place. Will no longer be necessary to keep the computer on (as local server) or not find us online under the same WiFi network.
So that this is possible, Plex Cloud will use the cloud of a great known by all, Amazon Drive. In this way, users will create a Plex Media Server always-on which will be able to play a movie or the chapter of your series favorite in less than 60 seconds through applications Plex for iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. Operation is exactly the same as until now, with the proviso that the content will be elsewhere.
What do not you going to like of Plex Cloud
However, as you already ahead of the beginning of this post, there is something in Plex Cloud that won’t appeal to many users, and is that all those who wish to use it must pay twice.
Plex Cloud requires of a subscription to Plex Pass. Its cost varies depending on the period of payment that choose: 4.99€ to the month, 39.99€ to the year u 149,99€ for a subscription of for life.
In addition, it will also be necessary to subscribe to the service of Amazon Drive, whose cost is $60 per year.
There is no doubt that the new Plex Cloud service is very appealing, even knowing of the proper functioning of Plex, however, such subscription will take many users back. What do you you think?
