Apple developers are not very interested in creating apps for Apple Watch these days, says Tim Anglade, an application developer and VP of the company Realm.
Around 100,000 application developers use the Realm database applications used in around one billion people, Anglade said. This gives Realm a unique point of view to see which devices have captured interest developers mobile and which do not.
Meanwhile, Apple tvOS is doing much better. The new fourth-generation Apple TV went on sale in the last quarter of 2015 and with it, Apple released the first store of applications for this device.
“tvOS is a completely new platform, so you have as a fever of gold for it,” says Anglade. The developers want to win market share for its applications in tvOS.
“On a weekly basis, we are seeing very few applications for the Apple Watch, in comparison with iOS applications”, says. “For every 1,000 new applications for iOS that are being built, there is tvOS 10 and perhaps 1 application for the Apple Watch”.
There was a little quick to create applications for the Apple Watch when it came out for the first time, but these days, it is seen as a mere complement to the iPhone, and many developers are not seeing business applications for the Apple Watch.
There are rumors that Apple will announce a new version of the clock at the WWDC, which starts June 13 and this might change my mind developers, believes Anglade.
“Apple released a road map to run standalone applications, and that’s a great thing,” says Anglade. It is hearing that connectivity and access to the sensors will be resolved in the next version of Apple Watch. Developers are slopes of the new enhancements and how can surprise Apple with the second version of your watch.
