Tim Cook said that Apple was nothing wrong in Ireland and that everything is a “political garbage”

Earlier in the week, Apple was beaten by a decision of the European Commission to pay the sum of 13 billion euros in taxes back to Ireland. Apple immediately refuted any crime and has already been said that the Irish Government will appeal. The Chief Executive Officer of Apple, Tim Cook, has continued this rant today in the Irish press, with a column in The Independent newspaper and a Rare radio interview.

Cook said that the effective rate of tax (0.005%) informed by the Commission was false and also catalogued it as a “political garbage”. He says that Apple has actually paid $400 million euros in Ireland the same year and believed to be the largest contributor in the country that year.

Cook said that Apple will continue its plans to expand in Ireland, as usual, including the construction of a new center of data very soon, despite the controversy by taxes. It is believed that both Apple as Ireland will succeed in an appeal. He says that “nobody did anything wrong here and we have to be United”. Cook said that Apple stands out for the payment of tax of Ireland’s 12.5% rate and the company has never had a special treatment for the reduction of these.

“Has not diminished one iota, we are fully committed to Irlanda.Consideramos the team is world class. They do this kind of work amazing for Apple and we are moving forward with the planned investments “, he said.

Ireland Government officials are entrenched in an internal battle over if you must fight against EU in court or not. Some members of the Government of Ireland Coalition believe that they should accept the 13 million euros as an injection of cash in public funds.

Cook continued pressing for the tax reform around the world, but says that any changes should not occur retroactively, as the European Commission is trying to act. The Irish Government turns to meet on Friday to discuss their next move in the case.
