According to the latest leaks, apparently Apple would be preparing the launch of editions in audio of the content written from iTunes. The company is preparing something that from Cupertino called “Spoken Editions”, small clips in audio of content that has been written by publishers, above all intended to promote the consumption of this type of content by people with difficulties Visual. Certainly, Apple remains at the forefront in regard to accessibility software, and we are glad to know that they are working to make their products easier to use for people with disabilities.
However, Apple is not doing this work alone, works by the hand of the SpokenLayer company, specializing in streaming audio and podcasts from a wide range of different material. SpokenLayer works with creators of content from the likes of Forbes, Hiffington Post, TIME, Reuters and more… But this is not all, in terms of monetization of this content type, Spoken Edition will include ads, as it could not be otherwise, audio version (would be a nonsense put ad banners). The economic performance of these ads will be shared between the publishers and the company SpokenLayer.
The closest thing to Spoken Editions we have right now in Apple is Siri, who bothers to read us according to content, whenever we ask him is clear. However, it is well go to a company specialized in this field, in order to get this type of users with disabilities access as easy as possible to this content. Once again has looks that we will find the language barrier, we hope to not let fall the publications stagnant in English as the only language. In short, Spoken Editions launch is scheduled for the first weeks of October.
