In the course of the last week, many iCloud users have been the target of unwanted emails (SPAM) being taken in the form of invitation of an unknown calendar events. Now, Apple is working in the way of stopping it.
In a statement given to Rene Ritchie, of iMore, an Apple spokeswoman said that the company is working to block these invitations that are really is spam. The spam about iCloud calendar invitations is not new, but there has been a serious rise in this spam since last week. Since iCloud calendar invitations are automatically sent to an iCloud calendar by default and there is no way to ignore them, the way to stop this type of spam that many Apple device users are suffering from is not clear.
Accept or choose “tal vez” in an incoming invitation from iCloud calendar says the e-mail address as valid sender, so until Apple can put an end definitively to this problem with spam, there are two possible work-arounds. Firstly, by logging on to iCloud through a web browser and accessing the calendar settings (click on the tuerquecita, go to preferences and then choose “Advanced”), you can choose to receive all invitations to events as emails. These can be more easily ignored and deleted without affecting the way in which do the invitations themselves.
Secondly, you can create a new calendar, name it as spam and move junk e-mail invitations to calendar spam. Then, you can delete the complete calendar. This method not informing the spammers that the event has been rejected and not transmitted by iCloud account exists, so you will not receive this spam.
Both users of iOS that use the default calendar application and those who use calendar of third-party applications are affected by this problem of spam.
