Apple continues with the development of its maps application, and seems to have prepared important new developments for 2017, that probably debutarían with iOS 11, operating system that is installed on our iPhone and iPad from September next year. Improvements in navigation maps with instructions to change lanes, a fleet of drones to get images that enhance your 3D maps and maps of interior that they would allow us to receive instructions within museums, malls or airports would be only some of the news that Apple would include in its maps application for iOS and macOS.
Apple already requested in March permission for a fleet of drones to the FAA, and these devices flying that can be controlled to distance would be ideal for to collect images updated of the streets and buildings. Not only will allow to update the actual images of the streets for 3D maps, but it could also update these images much more often that with the current system of vehicles used for its maps, which we would provide a much more updated maps and new roads and other constructions would appear almost immediately on maps.
In addition to external images Apple is also focusing on getting images of the interior of important buildings, such as museums, shopping malls, airports and other areas of interest. These images would allow add maps of interior to your application and making use of them networks WiFi or of them iBeacons could locate us in the interior of buildings where the GPS not usually operate, and us guide in our tour by a museum or to locate our door of embarks in them kilometre airports of them large cities. All of this at the moment are plans of the company, despite the statements of Eddy Cue that pointed out how costly that is to keep a few updated maps and the little benefit that it affects, it seems that it is still keen to improve its maps, perhaps with more ambitious plans to have the plane of a shopping center in our iPhone.
