With the passage of the 4″ to 4. 7″ and the 5.5 inch, one thing is undeniable: we can’t use, at least comfortably, the iPhone one-handed. Although I enjoy the advantages of having a larger screen (and the OIS and the best autonomy in the case of the Plus), I have to admit that sometimes I miss 5s iPhone size. It seems that Apple knows it and is assessing the possibility of return to us this convenience, but via software.
That is what we can understand one of the latest patents from Apple that describes how an iPhone could detect how you are holding and, automatically, move some UI elements so we can access them with your thumb. We can think of that this system would move in a similar way to how low the screen of the iPhone 6 if we played twice on the Touch ID, but the movement would be automatic without requiring action on our part.
Apple patent that we use an iPhone with one hand
Best of all is that Apple says that it could use these functions on the iPhone existing currently, it could do so with a software update (I would not expect it least until iOS 11). This would be possible because the device would use Basic, such as the accelerometer or gyroscope sensors, to determine how we are holding the iPhone, although it could also follow changes in the performance of the signal while we move your finger across the screen. On the other hand, it could also remember what thumb have been used for unlocking the iPhone using the Touch ID.
This patent is not new. In fact, one of the things that describes is the possibility that the “Slide to unlock” slider changed its meaning depending on the hand with which we sujetáramos the iPhone and iOS 10 does not already have this slider, only asks us to touch the home button to unlock the terminal.
As we always say, that a patent has been filed does not mean that we we will see one day, but it seems nothing unreasonable if we bear in mind that there is the option to download the iPhone with the ID Touchscreen. Will we see her in a future update?
