Iconic, a photographic tribute to the innovation of Apple

Iconic, un tributo fotográfico a la innovación de Apple

The week last Apple published a luxury book focused in the last twenty years of the design of the company’s products and whose price woke up one than another suspicion: 199 euros for medium size and 299 euros in the case of the larger Edition.

The truth is that the book has a fantastic pint, its design and manufacture, as always, has been cared for to the smallest detail, but let’s be frank, say that the price is abusive is an understatement. Not everything is worth, Apple. If you are one of those who think like me, but at the same time like the idea expressed by Apple, there is another much more affordable title that probably you’ll love: Iconic: A Photographic Tribute to Apple Innovation.

Iconic: A Photographic Tribute to Apple Innovation, in Spanish, “Iconic: A photographic tribute to the innovation of Apple”, does not reach the Apple Pencil launched the company in 2015 since the first edition was published in the year 2013, but its price is a more than interesting alternative: 59 euros.

“Iconic” is a work by Jonathan Zufi, a fan of Apple, and tells the story of the company’s products through photographs booting computer Apple I in 1976 and reaching the iPad mini in 2012.

Although it is not something official, the book has an enthusiastic foreword supposedly prepared by Steve Wozniak:

The beauty of the design that Apple is known for deserves beautiful photography, and that’s what Jonathan has given us. Within these pages, Jonathan has given us a thoughtful and artistic gift for fans and employees of Apple: pictures of Apple products – from hardware to packaging – something that had never seen before. Jonathan’s passion for this product is reflected in each page, and each one honors the hard work of each employee and collaborator that has passed through the doors of Apple.

The book Iconic: A photographic tribute to the innovation of Apple, is presented in a format of hard cover with a total of 340 pages and a size similar to the medium-sized Edition of “Designed by Apple in California”, whose price is 199 euros.

There are two editions, as you can see in the image header. The Classic Edition, which includes the book only, and the Classic Plus Edition, which includes a dust jacket or cover in black. The Edition Classic is which has a cost of only 59 euro being, at least by the time, the only in sale in Amazon.

As points Ben Lovejoy in 9to5Mac, the approach that presents this work is very similar to the book recently released by Apple, i.e., pictures to page complete, some of them to double page, that treated of show and make emphasis in the beauty of them designs of them products Apple. But also there are differences. An of them more notable is that, while the book of Apple not offers almost text, Iconic: A tribute photo to the innovation of Apple, cuanta with a great amount of appointments of Steve Jobs, Jony Ive and others people that have formed part of the history of the company and that help to understand best the message that is want to transmit with them images.

Another difference is that Iconic starts at the beginning of the history of Apple, in contrast to the official book that begins with the arrival of Jony Ive and first generation iMac, so perhaps this work can provide a more complete overview to the history of the evolution of Apple design.

Lovejoy also suggests that “the picture quality is first class, and at the same time with the book of Apple”, although the quality of the finish is not as impressive as in the case of the official book.

I do not know you but, unlike the official work of Apple, this one does that has aroused my interest. Currently is in presale but you can buy it now at Amazon.
