This digital Crown could be used in the main devices of the company to upload and down, take a picture, lock and unlock the screen, change text size…
In the image of the patent, we see how the initial intention might be to include this Crown digital on an iPad, but could also come to the iPhone and iPod touch in the future, and would be located in the left lower part of the device, on the side. This digital Crown could enable moving traces of the screen sensor to one side so that Apple could remove the home on the front of the device button to expand the size of the screen and conform more to the edges.
Being a patent, this does not mean that finally this button we can see it in the market, but initially could be a good idea If Apple eventually wants to expand the screen including fingerprints on the side sensor, similar to other devices in the market as the Z5 Xperia from Sony, which would allow us to unlock the device as take it with the hand instead of having to click on the Start button.
