The last quarter of 2016 was a good period for Apple Watch sales, so the same Tim Cook has recognized it, despite not offering figures official covers units, as that made with other products like the iPhone, iPad or Mac. And thus reflect it estimates of IDC, which compares the last quarters of the main retailers of wearables with some estimated figures for sales in which Xioami has got the second place, just behind Fitbit, presenting an important fall sales, and ahead of Apple that has the best quarter of sales of smartwatches in its history.
According to IDC, Apple would have had the best quarter in its history, with sales of 4.6 million of Apple Watch sold from October to December 2016, which represents a growth over the previous year of 13% reaching a market share of 13.6%. Despite the record figures Apple drops to third place, because Xioami got during the same period sales of 5.2 million units with an increase of 96.2% compared to the same period of the previous year. Fitbit meanwhile has suffered a considerable drop, with a decline of more than 22% over the previous year, reaching only 6.5 million units sold.

Despite the record quarter, IDC estimates show sales of Apple Watch less than the 2015, perhaps motivated by the fact that not renewing the smartwatch until the end of the year, so new models have just posted their sales during a quarter. Recoil is not big, from 11.6 million units in 2015 to 10.7 million units last year, but it is relevant since it is the only brands suffered a fall of sales taking into account all year round. Wearables in global market increased sales by 25% exceeding 100 million units sold in 2016.
