Apple Pay expands to Switzerland on Monday 13 June and will become the seventh country in which Apple mobile payments service will be available, according to the German-language financial portal Finews.
Swiss private bank Corner Bank reportedly will be one of the first transmitters that will depart in Switzerland with Apple Pay, but the report does not specify if the two big banks in the country, UBS and Credit Suisse, will also support a Apple Pay with the use of its platforms for to begin the expansion.
The arrival of the Apple payment service in Switzerland has waited since Apple introduced the trademark for the service with the Institute Federal Swiss intellectual property in February. The United Kingdom is currently the only European country with Apple Pay. Apple is working quickly to expand the service to other geographical areas, including Hong Kong and Spain, and, possibly, France, Brazil, and Japan, in collaboration with American Express, MasterCard and Visa, and other payment processors. Apple Pay has also expanded to ANZ in Australia, five major banks in Singapore, and five major banks of Canada BMO, CIBC, RBC, Scotiabank, and TD Canada Trust.
But out of all this expansion, Apple Pay has also had some technical problems, as for example in Australia, where Bendigo Bank has struggled to accept payments through digital terminals. He has also been a problem for Apple, the slow adoption of the user with this payment platform, indicating that it is not easy to set up, or simply don’t want to enter their credit cards to make Apple Pay configured on the device.
