Sure that more than one of you has a collection of comics, figures, mobile, CDs, DVDs, postcards, cars… collections that you always have a safe place away from the hands of any person who may be a risk in power for our valuable collection which we have taken many years to complete.

The experimental laboratory for Microsoft works regularly in curious applications that do not always see the light. Previously, Microsoft released an application that allowed you to retouch the skin of selfies that users could be made through the application. On this occasion the application that is about to leave the Microsoft Lab is called Thinga.Me, an application that allows us to capture objects and organize them.

The application allows us to take pictures all objects from our collections for posteriormente organize them within the application. The application uses the “GrabCut” code developed by Microsoft Research to recognize and separate all objects in the photographs that we do, leaving only the objective to collect automatically.

Our lives are full of physical things that interest us… As a team, we have been frustrated that there is no worthy application that allows digital physical things so that later we can organize them and share them with our friends or acquaintances.

Thinga.Me is designed to fill this void. Our mantra for the application is to “Collect things, not pictures”. A piece of code developed by Microsoft Research ten years ago, used GrabCut which allows us to eliminate the rest of the catch, leaving only the object in question. This simple act to eliminate the background of an object gives us the feeling that is not of a photograph to collect, but that it’s a physical thing. With this starting point we have added funds to place virtually all of our collections.

If you want to test this application from Microsoft, you can check out the following link and sign up if it is not yet too late.
