Since the arrival of the first iPhone to the market, the battle between Apple and Samsung has focused both in the courts and in sales of devices, leaving aside the trade agreements in which the Koreans always have provided various components of the iPhone, as the processor, memory chips…
Since they started the rumors about the possibility that the Cupertino-based company can, finally, implement screens OLED in future models, many have been the rumors that we have published in which various manufacturer would be responsible for making the screens.
At first it was rumored that LG and Samsung would be responsible in equal parts to manufacture them. Shortly after the purchase of Sharp by Foxconn, rumors were aimed at that Apple would directly displays the manufacturer of the devices Apple, Foxconn. The latest rumors seem to indicate that Samsung will be who is responsible for making an important part of these panels, for something is the company that takes more time working on this type of product.
According to Digitimes, the Korean company will send 40 million panels OLED manufacturing iPhone 8, first model to reach the market with this type of screens and that according to the latest rumors would come the year included, rather than the iPhone 7s. In addition say that each year the production of Samsung will be extended until you reach to manufacture 120 million display OLED in 2019.
What seems clear is that Samsung is not only responsible for manufacture this type of screens, and Apple will have to rely on companies like LG or the old Sharp now in possession of Foxconn. What we don’t know is the ability of both companies to produce this type of components. It should take into account that LG has a line of phones that use this technology and not going to drop everything to get to work for Apple.
