Why is the iPhone not going to never use the USB-C

iPhone-6s-Plus-22

We have long been reading and listening to the iPhone will need to change the connection, at least in Europe. The European Commission will force manufacturers to use only one type of connection that allows you to use the same charger and cable to all users, regardless of the brand of the device. Apple refuses to change, given that has always maintained that his Lightning connection is superior in specifications to the microUSB used by most manufacturers. However, everything changed with the arrival of the USB-C, a connection which in addition Apple has embraced since day one with their MacBook Retina. A universal and connection of enormous possibilities, which however will not be used in the iPhone, and I explain why.

Apple likes to control the iPhone accessories

It will be very difficult that Apple yield control of accessories for iPhone and iPad and “anyone” can be placed to manufacture devices. Apple used the 30-pin Dock Connector and then use the current Lightning. Two proprietary connections posed to any manufacturer who wants to do some accessory how compatible certificate must pass first by the headquarters of Apple, obviously also going through box. This would be so with the connector USB-C, since being an Apple industry standard it would no longer have the monopoly on the use of the Lightning.

Also using a standard is having to wait for the industry to develop and authorize changes to the same, i.e. already even Apple could add improvements to the connection, because it would have to wait for that these changes were reviewed and approved by the working group that developed this standard. And this to Apple as you can imagine not the least like you.

Thin, but not enough

USB-C-Lightning

This fantastic graphic shows it superbly: the USB-C appears as thin as the Lightning, but not so. Apple has an obsession with manufacturing increasingly thinner devices, in fact that seems the reason whereby 7 iPhone will no longer use the 3.5 Headphone Jack connection. What we would win now including a USB-C? Practically is identical in thickness to the Headphone Jack, as seen in the image. The Lightning connector is quite thin, and gives much room yet so the iPhone is thinner. Will to renounce that Apple?
