United States will have to face in the coming years that seems to a division of most important opinions that has faced the country in recent years. With a new President whose first political decisions are not having a very good reception among a large part of the population, there are several leaders of companies settled in this territory, which begin to speak out.
Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, has made a few hours by a letter to employees in which highlighted that “they do not support these policies” and stressed the important thing is the diversity and openness for a company like that directs. Below, you can find the full letter and its translation.
Equipment,
In my discussions with officials this week here in Washington, I’ve made it clear that Apple believes deeply in the importance of immigration – both for our company and for the future of the nation. Apple not exist without immigration, and much less would flourish and could innovate of the form in which it do
I have had news of many people who are deeply concerned about the Executive order issued yesterday by restricting the immigration of seven Muslim-majority countries. I share your concern. It is not a policy we support.
There are employees at Apple who directly affects the Executive order yesterday. Our human resources, legislation and security teams are in contact with them, and at Apple, we will do everything we can to help them. We are providing resources at AppleWeb for any questions or concerns about these policies of immigration. And we have come to the White House to explain the negative effect on our coworkers and our company.
As I’ve said many times, the diversity make our team stronger. And if there is a thing that I know about the people in Apple, is the deep empathy and support of ones to others. It is as important now as it has always been, and not to weaken one iota. I know that I can count on all of you to get to everyone at Apple feel welcome, respected, and valued.
Apple is open. Open to everyone, no matter from where they come, what language to speak, who love or what are their beliefs. Our employees represent the best talent in the world, and our team comes from all corners of the planet.
In the words of Dr. Marin Luther King, “may have all come on different ships, but we are in it now.”
Tim
